Child Obesity Surgery

Two 14-year-old boys have had gastric bands fitted at a Sheffield hospital.
The teenagers had the surgery at the city's Children's Hospital last year and in 2007, health bosses said.
A statement released by Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust said it was experienced in dealing with child weight management.
It added the issue of childhood obesity continued to be a "significant problem" in the UK and such surgery was only carried out as a "last resort".
'Extreme cases'
Gastric bands are normally fitted in cases where other attempts to lose weight have failed.
It involves a fluid-filled balloon being clipped around the upper end of the stomach with a band which restricts the flow of food into the lower stomach.
